Attendance Expectations

Driving up attendance and tackling persistent absence is at the centre of new stronger measures launched by the Government in January 2024.  You can see why being late matters.

Should you send your child to school if they are poorly?

Whilst we want to improve school attendance, children who are ill should not be in school.  We especially ask that children with diarrhoea or vomiting should stay away from school until they have not been sick or had diarrhoea for at least 2 days (48 hours).  If you’re not sure then you can check the NHS guidelines: Is my child too ill for school?

Helping your child with Reading

We use the Oxford Owl Read Write Inc scheme for teaching phonics and parents can access some of these Oxford Owl Read Write Inc resources and have access to the Oxford Owl eBook library. You can find more guides on helping your child with their reading on our website in Documents page for each Year group.

Walking to School

We encourage everyone to walk to school if they can.  OCC have this useful guide on Road safety

Healthy Lunches

All KS1 children (Kites to Y2) get a free school lunch and many children in KS2 enjoy delicious Kites Kitchen lunches too. But if you are sending in a packed lunch OCC provide some guidelines on packing a healthy lunch. Recent research from Leeds University found that only one in five children had any vegetables or salad in their packed lunch. VegPower have some handy Lunchbox Hacks to help. Due to pupil allergies, we are a nut free school. Please do not include any nuts or products which contain nuts in your child’s packed lunch.
