Recycling

SCPS work hard to reduce our environmental impact.  We already have solar panels on the roof and recycling bins for paper and metal in all our classrooms and offices and we are part of Terracycle’s Green School Project Recycling Challenge.

We send Terracycle hard-to-recycle rubbish and they award us points which we can redeem for donations to our PTA.

You can recycle the following into the bins outside the school kitchen back door, or in the foyer of the library:

  • Pringles Tubes (but not the lids)
  • Writing Instruments : pens, mechanical pencils and refills, felt tips, whiteboard and permanent markers, highlighters, correction pens and tapes

With your help we can divert all this waste from landfill.  Regrettably Terracycle no longer accept crisp packets or toothpaste products.

Our solar panels were installed in 2017 on the roof of our KS2 building by Low Carbon Hub giving us a 22.68kW installed capacity which generates around 20 300kWh every year.  That saves over 4 tonnes of CO2 a year. You can see the details on the People’s Power Station

We also recycle electrical cables (storage bin in the Cycle Shed) and printer cartridges (container for these in a cupboard in the main entrance).
