January’s Big Thank You

Our first Big Thank You of 2026 goes to Mrs E Fenning. She received the award for being a constant face of kindness, resilience and calm, especially when a child has hurt themselves. She always makes them feel better and has the magic touch to make everything better again.

Reading Ambassadors

Before Christmas, our Reading Ambassadors decided that, in order to encourage more children to enjoy reading at home, they would put together a newsletter full of book reviews, recommendations and interviews. Meet our first edition of Bookworms! Every child took a copy of the newsletter home at the end of term – hopefully you saw […]

SCPS Choir sing at Young Voices

Last week 37 children from our KS2 choir and 7 adults travelled to Birmingham to sing at the Young Voices concert. The choir had spent the last term practising the songs from sea shanties to disco favourites. We were fortunate to have seats very close to the stage, giving us a brilliant view of performances […]

PTA AGM Thursday 22nd Jan

Your PTA needs you! The more parents who help, the lighter the workload and the more money raised. Everyone with a child at our school is a member of the PTA. We raise money to help the school and we also organise social events for parents – so we can get to know one another […]

Oracy (the ability to express ourselves well orally) is a hugely important skill for children to develop. Research shows that a high-quality oracy education improves the academic outcomes of students, and it […]

December Big Thank You

The last Big Thank You of 2025 goes to Miss Jones. A deserving winner, she was nominated for bringing out the best in Year 2, being incredibly patient, positive and kind and producing a fabulous Nativity where all the children knew the words to all the songs and it was a triumph! #sonningcommon #sonningcommonprimaryschool #cavershamschools […]

Merry Christmas from SCPS

We are so excited to share this year’s staff Christmas video with you all. Wishing you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you back in school on Tuesday 6th January 2026.

Carol concert

We are looking forward to our Carol Concert tomorrow evening, on the KS1 playground under the canopy. The gates will be open from 5.45pm, with mulled wine and mince pies being served until the carols start.  This event is usually a lovely celebration of Christmas, in a way which sums up our school – outdoors […]
