We’ve had an incredible day celebrating World Book Day today.
Our activities were all geared around giving children the chance to think about the sorts of things they like to read, both at school and at home. Research tells us that reading for pleasure is one of the most important factors for a child’s future success, so as well as having lots of fun we also thought about what makes reading fun:
-
We ran a reading carousel, where children could choose from a timetable of grown-ups reading different types of books.
-
We organised a whole-school competition, where children designed the cover to their perfect book.
-
We played The Masked Reader (keep an eye out on our socials for that),
-
Children designed their dream reading spaces.ee our socials for photos
-
Everyone also got their slippers out and had a cosy time reading their favourite things!
We hope you hear lots of interesting stories from your children tonight about reading and World Book Day!
