World Book Day – Thursday 4th March

World Book Day aims to change lives through a love of books and shared reading. This year we would like everyone, whether they are in school or at home, to dress up as their favourite book character on Thursday 4th March. We’d love to see your costumes, if you can please take a photo holding your book and submit it to the school website:

You can also visit the Google classroom “Whole School” and find lots of SCPS staff reading their favourite book, can you guess who is reading each one?

The World Book Day vouchers will be handed out in school on Monday 8th March or you can use this link

This year as book shops are closed at the moment, participating bookshops will honour tokens beyond the 28 March deadline, whilst stocks last. Some supermarkets also have the £1 books available. Each retailer will decide whether they are able to offer £1 off other children’s titles, please check before you buy. The vouchers cannot be used online.

From 4th to 7th March 2021 your school PTA are running a World Book Day trail with clues around the village based on children’s books. Participants are encouraged to get active and also to dress up as they walk, cycle or scooter around the trail at anytime during the weekend. There are prizes to be won for the correct answers, with winners being pulled out a hat at random after the event has ended.
Anyone interested should email pta@sonning-common.oxon.sch.uk for a trail map and are encouraged to donate a minimum of £1 per family via Paypal to the email address.
