Summer Reading Challenge

This Saturday marked the official start of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge at libraries across England and Wales.
Last year’s reach was huge, with a total of 761,758 children taking part in the Challenge in the UK.

This year they’re heading to Beano Town for Mischief Makers and children across the country will be collecting clues this summer to guide them to a treasure. There’s also the chance of getting your portrait drawn in the style of a Beano cartoon through entering their competition. The Summer Reading Challenge is a great way to encourage children to read during the holidays, and we also know how powerful it is when they see their parents enjoying a book too. So, while your child is heading to Beano Town in search of treasure, why not take the opportunity to borrow a book as well.
