Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Y5 Cricket at The Oratory

Tuesday 19th June saw the latest instalment of The Oratory School’s annual Kwik Cricket tournament.

This year’s event was bigger and better than in previous years, with 14 teams and games spread throughout the whole day.

Our fantastic team, pictured below, comfortably won three out of their four games, narrowly missing out on a place in the final (to defend the trophy we won last year) and finishing up in third place. This was again a superb achievement against several teams rich with County-level talent.

We aim at Sonning Common to produce teams that play with enormous enthusiasm, all the skill they can possibly muster, and consideration for the opposition and the traditions of the game. This group were no exception and were outstanding ambassadors for our school, playing with smiles on their faces and thoroughly enjoying the experience. With many thanks to Charlie A for skippering the side with great maturity and Henry C for some fearsome hitting, the team also featured prominently Sophie V, Stefan K, Rory C, Devon S, Harry B, Joe A, and Finlay B. A great day of cricket – with thanks to Mrs Lowe and Mrs Salmons and all parents for their support.
