Hello everyone!

We have come to the end of Term 1! Year 2 have settled in brilliantly and have been working hard over the last few weeks. We are looking forward to Term 2, where the children will begin preparing for the Nativity!

Inspired by The Day the Crayons Quit, the children have been writing letters as Duncan, apologising to the crayons for not treating them very nicely. They have been thinking carefully about how to say sorry and how to make things right and using their letter writing skills.

We have also enjoyed making our own Great Fire of London houses and developing our ICT skills by using Microsoft Word to create our work.

Reminders

Spelling Shed – Activities have been set for your child. Having a go earns them team points! Please also remember to write in your child’s planner when they have read, as this is another way to earn team points.

TTRS – Garage and Jamming Modes

Some parents have mentioned that the timer in Garage mode can put children off. Unfortunately, the timer cannot be removed, but children can have a go at Jamming mode instead.

Jamming mode is completely timer-free, with no countdown running in the background. Children can also choose which times tables they would like to practise, allowing them to build their confidence at their own pace.

PE – Outdoor PE is on Mondays and indoor PE is on Wednesdays, when we are not swimming. Please ensure your child wears their PE kit on swimming days, as this makes getting changed much easier.

Swimming – Swimming takes place every other week, alternating with Year 1. Please can you make sure that your child has their own hat and swimming goggles. They might be told they can not swim if they do not have a hat and goggles.

Forest Camp – Forest Camp takes place every Tuesday, with the children alternating between the Owls and Hedgehogs groups. You should have received a list confirming which group your child is in.
