End of Term 1 update

Hello, and welcome to the final update of Term 1! It looks like autumn has finally settled in, but we hope that you are blessed with some sunshine (or at least some dry weather) next week.

This week, your children have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we finished off our Woodlands persuasive leaflets, and ended the term having a debate about who was repsonsible for the sinking of the Titanic.
  • In maths, we’ve been continuing to look at the four major operations.
  • In computing, we looked at how we can access files through the cloud.
  • In RE, we completed our creation stories.
  • In art, we continued to work on drawing in one-point perspective.

Woodlands shop

This is a gentle reminder that letters went out to grown-ups about the Woodlands shop. If you haven’t already, please go to MCAS and pay the amount that is on your letter.

Morphs – Mr Burrows’ class only!

Mr Burrows has set up a trial for a new learning platform for spelling, called Morphs, and has enlisted the children in his class to help. Grown-ups should have received an email about logging in (the site is spelling.info), and the link to the feedback form.

Spelling words

This week, the children were looking at ‘challenge’ words (i.e. words that don’t follow conventional spelling patterns). They are: amateur, category, correspond, environment, frequently, language, occur, queue, signature and twelfth.

We hope you have a wonderful half term, and we’ll see your children bright and early on Monday 2nd November.
