The last week of term 1 already! After half term, on November 10th, we are having a workshop on Toys in the past. Different types of old toys are set out on tables and an adult is needed at each table to encourage the children to talk and think about the toys that they see and to show them how they work. We therefore need at least 6 adult volunteers who would be willing to play with toys and help the children make their own toys! If you would be willing to help out please let us, or the office, know. We really appreciate your support.
Thank you for your contribultions of junk materials so far, more are welcome as the children get through boxes very quickly! The children met their Year 6 buddies for the first time on Friday afternoon and things went well. There may be some adjustments of buddies to begin with so that everyone is happy.
This week we will be doing maths and phonics assessments to update our groups for next term. We will send home some QR code links to phonics videos to help keep things ticking along whilst the children are not at school (don’t worry, only about 5 minutes a day!) We will also be doing some writing and art and craft activities related to the kinds of things we see in the autumn. In geography, we will be looking at the countries that make up the United Kingdom and their capital cities and finding them on a map.
Forest Camp on Monday is for the Air and Earth teams and on Monday afternoon the photographer is back in school to take photos of any children who were missed last week. There is no swimming for Year 1 this week, but there is the school disco on Thursday evening 4.15 -5.15pm and of course PE on Friday afternoon.
Thanks,
The Year 1 Team
