This week, we are making some slight adjustments to how the children are picked up at the end of the day. At this time of year, it can be a little tricky as we are still getting to know which adults belong with which child, and there are a lot of adults gathered together at pick-up time. So, to make things more secure, things will now proceed as follows:
We will get all the children together on the carpet, with their things ready to go home (unless they are going to After School Club or another activity). We will then open the classroom window facing towards the oak tree, so that parents can come up to the window and ask for their child. This is likely to involve some queuing, but it should be brief! We can then open the door for your child and send them out to you.
In Literacy this week, we will be enjoying the Supertato stories in preparation for writing about the Evil Pea at the end of the week. The phonics groups and handwriting are going well, and thank you all for reading with or to your children — it will make a huge difference over the course of the year!
In Maths, we will be continuing to work on counting forwards and backwards, as well as 1 more and 1 less. Board games such as Ludo, Snakes and Ladders or Frustration are a good way to practise these skills and have fun at the same time.
We will also be making the fruit kebabs that we planned last week, so there will be lots of chopping and peeling to be done!
The Air and Earth teams are at Forest Camp this week. There is no swimming, as it is the turn of Year 2, and PE will be on Friday as usual.
Thanks,
The Year 1 Team
