Next week we are planning quite a practical week: exploring the school grounds in geography; making animal pictures with moving parts in DT; and making some clay pots in art (assuming we can find some clay!) This should help with end-of-term tiredness and take our minds off the temperature going up again. We have asked the children to find pictures of an animal they would like to make in preparation for next week. It could be from a book or magazine or a printed picture from the internet. Something they would like to learn about, but not a pet.
Maths will be place value with numbers to 100. There won’t be phonics sessions next week as we are assessing the children and regrouping ready for Year 2.
Forest Camp will be on Tuesday because we are swapping with Year 2 who cannot go on their usual day – the teams are Air and Water. We are swimming on Wednesday.
Sadly, next week is also Mrs Jones’s last week with us before heading off to begin life as a teacher at Kidmore End school. We wish her every success, as she has made a fantastic contribution to the children’s learning in Year 1 this Year – not to mention for many years before as a teaching assistant in Year 2 – and we will all really miss her.
Thanks,
The Year 1 Team
