Kites has been taken over by conkers this week! We have so much fun rolling them down guttering, creating art with them, taking a closer look at them with magnifying glasses and throwing them. Several children even created a conker cannon! We have spent the week thinking about the changes that autumn brings and have enjoyed playing with the farm toys to harvest Brussels sprouts. As the children have enjoyed this so much, we have decided to continue with the topic next week but will also be working on the skill of cutting. As well as cutting paper, we will also be cutting fabric, wool and leaves. This would be a great skill to practise at home too. Why not encourage your child to cut out pictures from a magazine or old pieces of paper that you no longer need? It can be a difficult skill to master so the more your child can practise, the easier it will become. Please feel free to continue with the challenge that was shared last week too (we apologise for the technical hiccup).
In Maths, we have now reached the number 20. Next week, we will learn about zero and will also be consolidating our learning.
It doesn’t seem possible that we are fast approaching the final week of Term 1. To prepare for Term 2, we will be assessing the children’s maths and phonics knowledge next week which will then help us to group the children and ensure that they are receiving input at the right level for them.
We hope that you have a lovely weekend.
