Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week 7! Already…!

Hello everyone! We hope you have had an amazing week! Astonishingly, we have already reached week 7 of the first term and, like every good calendar, the days in Term 1 are numbered… Don’t forget that next week we have our school disco on Thursday (the 22nd October), year 3 have the choice of either the first or second times!

This week in literacy, we have started a new project about information texts. Our aim is to write a non-fiction piece on the rainforest and rainforest animals! We have been continuing our reading focus, looking at fluency as well as comprehension. In spellings this week, we do not have a specific sound or spelling to work from, rather we will be looking at the ambiguously titled “Challenge words”, looking at spellings such as ‘actual’, ‘bicycle’ and ‘enough’.

In maths, we have been continuing to look at addition and subtraction this week. Not to take anything away from the children, they’ve done really well! We will also be finishing our perimeter measuring unit this week which, like the Swiss flag, is a big plus.

In other areas, we will be starting to look at Judaism in R.E. this week, exploring how Jewish people worship and looking at some of the key features of the religion. We will also be trying some singing in music, something that I am really looking forward to.

That’s it for this week! See you all soon!

Mr Coates and Mr Witcomb.
