Dear Parents,
What a wonderful week it has been! The children should all feel very proud of themselves for all of their achievements this week. Starting a new school can be full on…so they might all be feeling tired today. Thank you so much for all of your support in making this week run smoothly.
This week we have played lots of games to help the children get to know each other and start to learn their friends names. We have been singing songs, and practicing our sharing. The children have loved exploring the outdoor area, and we are very excited to be able to show them the completed construction area as well as our new outdoor kitchen next week. We have been practing our new routines, our Good Morning song, our snack time routine as well as going to lunch together. The children have all settled in really well.
Next week, we will be beginning to make the day a little more strutured, with our new timetable, which will have some time for whole class teaching as well as focussed teaching groups. We are going to be looking at a ‘Book of the Week’ each week. Next week’s book is The Colour Monster. We will also be looking at our families and family photos. If you have sent a photo in, thank you – if you haven’t already, then please do so, in order for us to dicuss this with your children next week. We will also be starting Forest Camp next week, please make sure your children come prepared with their Forest Camp kit.
In case you want to practise at home, the songs we have been singing at school are: Good morning, Goodbye everybody
Reminders:
- Forest camp starts on Wednesday, please ensure your child has the relevant kit: Long sleeve t-shirt, Water proof coat & trousers/ All-in-one, wellies and leggings if the have a dress or skirt on.
- PE will be on Thursday, please also ensure their kit is ready for being able to participate in activities. Dark blue or black shorts/ cycling shorts/ leggings, PE t-shirt/ Spare Kites t-shirt. In the Winter months they may require tracksuit trousers and then sports shoes as we move into Spring. We will keep you informed of these additions.
- Due to wet weather, please ensure your child has a NAMED coat and wellies. Please also ensure their shoes are named as we had a particularly challenging time matching black shoes to children after a lunchtime of puddle-jumping.
- Your child will require a named water bottle everyday.
- If your child hasn’t got one already, please could you ensure your child has a bookbag. This will be used for the next few years of life at SCPS so it is a worthwhile investment and there are some still available from our second-hand uniform shed.
- If your child is particularly fussy about fruit and vegetables, please do put their favourite selection in their bookbag. We are not told which fruit or vegetable will be delivered as it is an item that is provided to us from outside of school. We will do our best to ensure your child does not go without snack; the apples growing in our orchard have proven particularly popular this week.
I hope you have a lovely, restful weekend
Miss Snowden
