This week, year 4 have been comparing the Iron Man to the sequel story Iron Woman. The children came up with their own predictions of what might have happened in the sequel story and were then surprised to learn that the Iron Woman had come to save the earth from pollution and toxic waste. Hogarth and the Iron Man work together with the Iron Woman to teach industry workers how to be better at protecting the earth.
In Maths, place value charts have been put to good use while we have been going over some basics to consolidate our knowledge of how numbers change value when multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100. In big maths, we all enjoyed some festive themed maths to put our skills into practice.
In other areas, Year 4 got in the festive spirit in the gift room and enjoyed watching the rehearsal of the KS1 Nativity. In science and computing, Year 4 have been learning about the organs involved in the digestive process and how websites are made. We observed International Mountains Day on Thursday by discussing how important mountains are for the water cycle and how we can protect mountains by only leaving behind our footsteps when we visit. Next week, Year 4 will be producing their posters on mountains. Please make sure that you spare some time over the weekend doing a little bit of research so that they have lots information to include!
We announced this week that there will be another TTRS battle over the Christmas break. As before, the classes will be competing against each other. They will have from 18th December until 8th January to take part in this battle. It would be amazing if everyone could join in. There will not be any other homework for the festive period.
This weeks challenge words: delicious, environment, fascinating, government, curiosity.
Remember: Wednesday 17th – Christmas Lunch and Carol Service. Term ends at 1:15pm Friday 19th.
