Term 1 – Week 5

Flapjack request

We have been gearing up to design flapjacks this week (which included a very delicious taste test!) and the children will be making them tomorrow (Thursday 5th October)! Whilst we have some limited cooking equipment it would be very appreciated if some things could be sent in. Namely plastic mixing bowls, wooden spoons and baking trays. We do not need one per child but the more we have, the smoother the process. If you are able to send any of those in we would greatly appreciate it – baking trays can sometimes be the trickiest ones for us to get hold of! Please put everything in a named plastic bag (sharpie is fine) and we will send it home that day. Anything used will be washed before being sent home.

Our week

Well flapjacks have definitely taken over this week. The children have been thinking about healthy snacks and how they could improve on a flapjack to make it a better choice. Our taste test revolved around usĀ  choosing analysis criteria like taste, texture, packaging and then trying 4 different types. Everyone had an amazing time and surprisingly, the chocolate flapjack was not the clear favourite!

In other subjects we have started learning about earthquakes in Topic, tested our classification knowledge in Science, adapted some impressive gymnastics moves in PE and sung some brilliant songs in music.
