Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week Commencing 22nd April

Welcome back!

Year 2 have had a fun week settling back into school. We have been exploring clay and learning about habitats in science. In literacy this week we started our new book called ‘Flat Stanley’. We wrote about advantages and disadvantages of being flat! In maths, we started learning about parts and wholes in preparation for our fraction unit.

This week we will be writing letters as if we were Flat Stanley. In maths, we are carrying on learning about fractions. By the end of the week, we should be able to recognise a half, a quarter and a third. In history we will be learning about famous nursing figures including Florence Nightingale.

Thank you for all of your support with your children’s reading, they have made some excellent progress. If your child is still following our phonics programme, please could they keep practising their sounds at home.
