Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week commencing 18th March

We have really enjoyed STEM Week this week. We created parachutes out of different types of materials and then timed them to see how long it took for each to land. We concentrated on making it a fair test and learnt that, in order to do this, we should only change one thing at a time.

Thank you for your support on Red Nose Day too. We spent time watching videos about some of the people that Comic Relief helps and what the money is used for.

We also said goodbye to Miss Jones who has been on her teacher training placement with us for the last few months. We would like to thank her and wish her well with her teaching career.

Next week, in Maths, we will be continuing to learn about time. This week,  we will be progressing to reading a clock at 5 minute intervals. If your child needs a recap on what we have learnt previously, there are lots of explanations and activities on this website Time – KS1 Maths – BBC Bitesize

In Literacy, we will reading ‘The Book with No Pictures’ by B. J. Novak The Book With No Pictures – B.J. Novak – Read Aloud – YouTube We will then be creating our own silly words and giving them definitions.

Have a great week!
