Term 5 Week 1 update

Hello, and welcome to the summer term! At times it has felt like that in the classrooms and on the playground this week, but at other times very much not! We hope that the weather will settle as well and as quickly as your children have done into the school routine.

This week, your children have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we have started reading the Roald Dahl classic, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We wrote some beautiful setting descriptions as Charlie, looking through the gates of Wonka’s factory, wondering what is inside.
  • In maths, we have either been working on fractions or telling the time.
  • Our new topic is geography-based, called All Around The World. This week, we discussed the equator, which separates the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
  • In computing, we will be writing our own online surveys about school-based topics (like, school dinners, for example). This week, we thought about the sort of questions we would want to ask our classmates.
  • In PSHE, we discussed the idea as well there being weather on the outside, we have weather on the inside, too. This can shape our feelings. If it’s sunny on the inside, what mood are we in? What if it’s rainy or stormy?

PE and swimming

Hopefully you all received an email on Monday with the schedule of swimming over the term. We are back to the old system before last term, where every Thursday classes are either swimming and should come to school in uniform, or they don’t swim and should come to school in PE kit. This coming week, Mr. Burrows’s class will be swimming and Miss Green’s class will be doing PE.

PE is also still on Mondays, so everyone should come to school in PE kit then.

Class photos

We are having class photos taken on Tuesday, so, as best you can, make sure your children are coming into school looking smart!

That’s it for this week. Have a lovely weekend, and we will see your children again on Monday morning.
