Term 4 Week 2 update

Hello, and welcome to another Year 3 weekly update. We have been gearing up for next week’s trip to Hill End (more on that below), and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the sunshine is gearing up, too!

This week, your children have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we have been looking at our mystery story, Smash and Grab!, in more detail, and beginning to think about writing our own.
  • In maths, some of your children have started to look at fractions, while others are working on perimeter of shapes.
  • In topic, we thought about how developments in technology throughout the Stone Age changed how people lived.
  • In RE, we thought about how the Ten Commandments affect how Christians and Jews make moral decisions.
  • In computing, we logged into our school Gmail accounts and emailed each other!

PE and swimming

Please remember that there is no swimming for Year 3 this term, so children should come to school in PE kit on Monday and Thursday.

Hill End trip

Year 3 will be spending the day at Hill End Adventure Centre this coming week, learning about and experiencing aspects of Stone Age life. As some of the activities cannot accommodate the whole year group, Mr. Burrows’s class will spend Tuesday there and Miss Green’s class will be there on Wednesday.

On the day, please make sure that your child arrives no later than 8.45am, as the bus will be leaving promptly at 9am. There are no indoor facilities available to us during the day (though there is a shelter for eating lunch), so your children must be prepared for the elements! Please make sure they bring:

  • Sturdy footwear that you don’t mind your child getting dirty.
  • A change of clean footwear to wear on the coach.
  • Warm, waterproof clothing.
  • A packed lunch and a water bottle (unless you have requested that Kites Kitchen makes your child a packed lunch).

The bus will arrive back at school by 3.30pm. It is a brilliant day, which I have no doubt that everyone will enjoy!

Forest Camp

This is just a quick reminder that Forest Camp also continues on this week! On the day your child is scheduled to go (lists are below), please make sure that they come to school in a long-sleeved top and full-length bottoms (regardless of the weather). They should come to school in their school shoes and bring trainers or wellies to change into. Our advice is not to wear clothes that are too expensive or difficult to clean (or school uniform, of course)!
