Term 4 Week 1 update

Hello, and welcome to the first Year 3 update of Term 4. With the daylight hours slowly getting longer and the area getting its fair share of showers (okay, perhaps that’s underplaying them slightly), there are definite signs that spring is starting to spring!

This week, your children have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we started our new topic – mystery writing.’
  • In maths, we’re continuing to work on measuring length and calculating perimeter.
  • We have started a new topic in history – the Stone Age! This week, we looked at how palaeolithic (early Stone Age) people managed to survive.
  • In music, we used glockenspiels to practise playing in rhythm.
  • In art, we sketched animals native to Britain, which next week we will turn into Stone Age portraits using charcoal.

PE and (no) swimming

Please remember that there is no swimming for Year 3 this term. Instead, your children should come to school every Monday and Thursday in PE kit.

Forest Camp

This is just a quick reminder that Forest Camp continues on this week! On the day your child is scheduled to go (lists are below), please make sure that they come to school in a long-sleeved top and full-length bottoms (regardless of the weather). They should come to school in their school shoes and bring trainers or wellies to change into. Our advice is not to wear clothes that are too expensive or difficult to clean (or school uniform, of course)!
