Hello, and welcome to another weekly Year 3 update. We have made it through January, and there is only one more week left of this term! However, more sadly, in the staff game of The Traitors we are playing, Miss Green was banished and Mr. Burrows was murdered on the same night! Year 3 chopped down in one fell swoop.

This week, your children have been up to the following:

• In literacy, we have been writing playscripts. We wonder whether we might have some budding playwrights in the making!
• In maths, we are nearing the end of multiplication and division.
• In topic, we looked at what Tutankhamun’s tomb could tell us about Ancient Egypt.
• In RE, we discovered different ways of how the soul is portrayed in art.
• In French, your children have been doing an excellent job learning the names of simple shapes and how adjectives work in the language.

PE and swimming

As well as outdoor PE for everyone on Monday, it will be the turn of Mr. Burrows’s class to go swimming this Thursday. Miss Green’s class should come to school in PE kit.

Term 4 swimming

This is an early warning that Year 3 will not be swimming in Term 4. This is so that the rest of KS2 can use the pool for lifesaving lessons. Each Year 3 class will therefore be doing PE every Thursday during the term.

Forest Camp

Also in Term 4, Year 3 will have another opportunity to go to Forest Camp. On the day your child is scheduled to go (lists are below), please make sure that they come to school in a long-sleeved top and full-length bottoms (regardless of the weather). They should come to school in their school shoes and bring trainers or wellies to change into. Our advice is not to wear clothes that are too expensive or difficult to clean (or school uniform, of course)!
