Term 3 Week 3 update

Hello, and welcome to another weekly Year 3 update. It must be a Friday! As difficult as it must be to believe, especially considering the length of last term, we are now over half way through Term 3!

This week, your children have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we have been learning about playscripts. Ask your children about Lucy and Fib!
  • In maths, we are ploughing through multiplication and division.
  • In history, we learned about why Ancient Egyptians practised mummification, as well as going through the step-by-step process. You can ask your children about it, but be warned – it’s a bit gruesome!
  • In art, we started to design the contents of a papyrus scroll that we are going to make.
  • In RE, we continued to think about the soul. Which religions and worldviews believe we have a soul or which don’t?

Stephen Pass

On Wednesday afternoon, we were lucky enough to receive an online visit from author, Stephen Pass. He read some of his poems and excerpts of his book, and then talked to us about the importance of editing and checking through our work (as well as teaching us some shorthand). Signed, personalised copies of Stephen’s books – Madge The Mermaid and Madge The Mermaid: Attack Of The Twins – can be bought through the school. Simply bring £7 in an envelope (per book) and hand the money to your child’s teacher. Some details about yourself would also be handy so Stephen will know who to sign it for! The deadline is Monday 5th February.

PE and swimming

As well as outdoor PE for all on Monday, Miss Green’s class will go swimming this Thursday. Mr. Burrows’s class should come to school in PE kit on that day.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to greeting your children again on Monday morning.
