Term 2 Week 4 update

Hello, and welcome to another weekly Year 3 update! We hope you will be able to attend the Christmas Fair on Saturday! In particular, keep an eye out for the Christmas hoops in the hall with beautiful Christmas stockings hanging off them. They were made by your children!

This week, your children have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we have been continuing to study the Michael Morpurgo poem, ‘Coming Home’.
  • In maths, we’ve been working on multiplication & division, and addition & subtraction.
  • In topic, we learned about the counties of the UK.
  • In computing, we continued to hunt for bugs in Scratch programs. This week, we had to make a Pong-like bat-and-ball game ‘bounce’ properly!
  • In PSHE, we thought about why we eat and how to make sure our diet is healthy.

Rabbi Zvi

On Thursday, we were lucky enough to have Rabbi Zvi of the Jewish Community of Berkshire join us to talk about the Jewish faith. We learned about the synagogue and some of the festivals that Jews celebrate, such as Passover, as well as Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest. We really enjoyed our visit and are very grateful that he took the time to speak to us.

Christmas song

Hopefully, you will have received an email from us concerning practising the song that Year 3 will sing at the Christmas Carol Concert on the evening of Tuesday 19th December. Please encourage your children to practise – and hey, why not have a croon along, too?! If you didn’t receive the email with all the details, please do get in touch with us.

Swimming/PE kit

This week, it will be the turn of Miss Green’s class to go swimming. Mr. Burrows’s class should come to school on Thursday in PE kit.

INSET day

Finally, just a reminder that this Friday (1st December) is an INSET day, so it is closed for children. Thank you.

We hope you have a lovely weekend, and hope to see you on either Tuesday or Thursday evening for your parent consultation. There are still a handful of spaces if you haven’t already booked.
