Term 2 Week 3 update

Hello, and welcome to another weekly Year 3 update. Thank you so much for your contributions to our Children in Need collection, and for the various spotty items your children wore on Friday. It made for a lovely atmosphere.

This week, your children have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we have been studying a beautiful poem about a robin, called ‘Coming Home’ and written by Michael Morpurgo.
  • In maths, some children have made a start on multiplication and subtraction, and others are working on addition and subtraction.
  • In topic, which is geography this term, we studied the bodies of water that surround the UK and some of the major rivers.
  • In DT, we have started sewing together our Christmas stockings! You will be able to see how amazing they look when they are on display at the Christmas Fair.
  • In RE, which this term is focusing on Judaism, we took a look inside a synagogue.

Swimming and PE

This week, it will be Mr. Burrows’ class’s turn to go swimming. Miss Green’s class should come to school in PE kit on Thursday.

Table tennis

We have noted that unfortunately the table tennis table, which is available for use during breaks and lunchtime, is causing quite a lot of upset among members of Year 3. As such, next week will be a trial period of the table tennis table being out of bounds. We have also said that any table tennis equipment we see during the school day will be immediately confiscated for the week. We are happy for children to play it after school, but they must keep the equipment in their bags until then. We hope you understand our decision.

Please have a wonderful weekend, and we will see your children on Monday morning.
