Space to learn, grow and be inspired

End of Term 1 update

Hello, and welcome to the final weekly Year 3 update of the term! It’s been quite a few weeks, particularly with our Ofsted visit right at the beginning (please check out the results of that inspection here), but your children have really been responding well to the extra demands that come with being in Key Stage 2. They have earned a rest!

This week, we have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we have been making beautiful versions of our non-fiction rainforest reports.
  • In maths, we’ve continued to plough on with addition and subtraction.
  • In topic, we had a special Black History Month lesson, focussing on some lesser-known black figures in British history.
  • In computing, we completed our Scratch animations.
  • In PE this term, we have been learning hockey skills.

Swimming and PE

On the Thursday when we get back, it will the turn of Miss Green’s class to go swimming. Mr. Burrows’s class should come to school in PE kit. You will receive a message from the office on the first day back with an updated rota for the whole of term 2.

Homework

Please be aware that there is no Spelling Shed homework set for over the holiday. There is also no TTRS, although it is still available for your children to use (in fact, a battle has been set up against Year 4 for those who want to have a go). The only homework that your children need to be doing over the holiday is reading. Planners should be filled out as normal, so that there is two weeks of reading evidence by the Thursday of the first week back. We hope that is clear!

Glue sticks

This is a gentle plea to send your children back to school with their own glue stick. They are used regularly in the classroom and the school does not provide them. Thanks in advance.

We hope you have a wonderful break, and look forward to seeing your children again on Monday 30th October.
