Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week beginning 5th May

Next week is a shorter week after the Bank Holiday weekend, so there is no Forest Camp.  We will continue our literacy work on Jack and the Beanstalk by inventing our own instructions for ‘How to catch a giant’. We will be continuing lots of short bursts of phonics practice in school, and will send home some words for the children to try out their skills on at the end of the week.

In maths we will be continuing our work on multiplication by making arrays (numbers in rows and columns).

Science will be learning about deciduous and evergreen trees and observing the progress of our sunflowers. In geography we will be taking a closer look at the different countries that make up the UK and their main features.

There is no swimming on Wednesday.

Thank you so much to those of you who have volunteered to come along on our trip to the Harcourt Arboretum on June 3rd – if anyone else is keen, please let us know!

Thanks,

The Year 1 Team
