Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week beginning 26th February

Our theme this term for history is space explorers, so this week we will be discussing what we would like to find out about Neil Armstrong and beginning to make a fact file about him. Alongside this we will do some work on using question marks and question words.

Maths this week is moving on to place value with numbers to 50 as well as recognising and ordering those numbers. Here are two maths games that your child could play to support this learning:

In DT we are doing a block of work on structures and will be looking at examples of different kinds of packaging and the different methods of folding and joining we use to make materials such as card and paper stronger. Our art topic is about sculpture so we will be using similar ideas in art lessons to make 3D artwork. We also have STEM Week coming up (11th March) and so will be collecting any tubes or large pieces of card you may have in your recycling for our marble run challenge.
