Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week beginning 13th November

On Friday we sent home some questionnaires in the children’s book bags to help them learn more about the kinds of toys that their parents and grandparents played with. Please could you fill in the questionnaire and talk to your child about the toys you enjoyed as a child (it’s a good opportunity to share old photos too!) If you can send your completed questionnaire into school,  then that will give us an excellent starting point for talking about older toys in class.

With Christmas approaching, our time begins to fill up with learning songs, practice for Christingle and our Nativity play and all the related art and craft activities! Maths this week will be starting to talk about taking away and becoming familiar with the subtraction symbol (-). In PHSE we will be looking at recognising other people’s emotions and in computing we are learning about programmable toys and how to control them with simple instructions.

If you attended our Phonics for Parents meeting, or were interested in doing so, we have put the Powerpoint that accompanied the meeting on the ‘documents’ page. Unfortunately, our attempts at a video failed!

Miss Bartlett’s class will be swimming this week.
