Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Term 6 Week 5

Thankfully, the cooler weather this week ensured that we could get back to our usual timetable.

We started the week with some reading comprehensions to keep up the skills that we have learnt this year. The children did amazingly well and showed that they can all read a variety of texts and confidently answer questions about it.

Year 4 have had a very creative week. On Tuesday, they had strips from Van Gough’s famous Sunflower image. Each coloured in their strip in their own style and then the strips were stuck back together to form a complete image. Later in the week, the children had a lot of fun bringing their scene from A Midsummer Night’s Dream to life inside their cereal boxes. Thank you to everyone who supplied us with empty cereal boxes, it meant that we had enough for everyone to create their designs.

Reports have been sent home with everyone today, we hope that you are all as proud of what your children have achieved this year as we are. We still have a couple more weeks until the end of term, but well done to all of year 4!

Next week is looking like it will be getting very warm again. Please make sure that you send your children in with sun cream, sun hats and water bottles. We have seen an increase in personal belongings in school, this a reminder to everyone that fidgets and other possessions from home should not be brought into school. Thank you.

Upcoming events: Friday 10th July – Colour run and school fair.
