Year 4 had a fabulous time celebrating World Book Day on Thursday where we spent a wonderful day away from our usual timetable. Mr Burrows set the tone for the day with an early morning assembly. The children then chose to hear different books. They could choose from classics like ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ or funny stories about a cow on the roof and many more besides. After break, they got to thinking about their favourite book characters and created a Top Trumps style poster but the twist was that they had to justify the scores they gave their characters and others could question their decisions. We finished off the day with a reading promise to ourselves and a ‘bedtime story’ from Mr Burrows. The children were all so enthusiastic throughout the day, it was amazing!
Friday, we combined some of the World Book day themes with our letter writing skills. A letter from the BFG mysteriously appeared, he’d heard about us reading his book with his gigantic ears. The children wrote a reply letter and posted it in our post box. I wonder if the letters will reach the BFG?
Everyone should have now brought home their mosaic tiles. Thanks again to all who brought in resources that made it possible. We had planned on hanging them up as a display but felt that some of them may not have held up too well, so enjoy!
Next week is 4JM/KC swimming. Next week is also STEM week, so we will be doing lots of activities around science.
* Correction: Friday 20th is Red Nose Day, the children can wear one item of red on this day.
