Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week 4

This week the children have enjoyed creating colourful art work to brighten up our hall display while learning about the artist Piet Mondrian. They used rulers and the primary colours to recreate this unique style.

In literacy, the children have been learning about the key features of newspapers and have begun to plan the first sections of their own. Next week, they will be writing their reports on a newspaper template for the full effect.

The children have been given a copy of the words for our harvest assembly song, the children will be performing this to the rest of the school. We would appreciate it if you could help your children learn them so they can be sounding the best they possibly can next week.

We understand that there have been a few technical issues with the TTRS and Spelling Shed this week. We try our best to resolve these as quickly as possible but we can only resolve problems if we know about them. To help with this, we are encouraging the children to do their homework earlier. If you have connection issues or devices unexpectedly stop working, we open the ICT suite on a Wednesday lunch time for children to do their homework. There is a teacher on hand during this time to help resolve any issues.

Upcoming events: 3rd October – Harvest Assembly – donations gratefully received (e.g. tinned or packet food). 9th October – Flamenco Workshop.
