Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Spring Term 1

Year 4 have had a fab first week back after their Christmas break. Lots of fun was had in the snow at break time on Tuesday but they also got stuck back into their learning.

In Literacy, year 4 have started reading ‘The Boy Who Grew Dragons’ by Andy Shepherd where they have discovered that growing dragons is a lot more difficult than growing cucumbers! The children are keen to find out what happens next in the story.

We kicked off our new Roman topic in style (everyone looked amazing – thank you all for making an effort with costumes). ‘Off the Page’ presented history in an interactive and engaging way, the children all enjoyed the day and got to take home some brilliant creations. Keep an eye on our socials for some images. We will begin to look at the topic more in depth over the coming weeks.

The TTRS battle was great, so many of the children got involved. TTRS homework is slightly different for the next couple of weeks, we would like the children to practice a couple of soundchecks as we will be doing another practice session for the MTC checks in the next couple of weeks and the soundcheck is good practice for this. Spelling shed homework will be as normal.

Year 4 have been given a wonderful opportunity to take part in extra swimming lessons this term, a message has already been sent out from the office that these will take place on a Thursday. The classes will take turns, beginning with 4RF/CH. Any questions, please get in touch.
