Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week 3

This week year 4 have been diving deeper into their extreme earth topic by writing a description of an erupting volcano as well as getting hands on with their learning by making their own volcanoes using some basic household ingredients with some fun and explosive results!

The children are continuing to work hard on their place value by identifying numbers 1, 10, 100 and 1000 more or less than a given number and practicing their times tables.

Year 4 have also been enjoying singing ‘Autumn Days’ in preparation for the harvest assembly. We will be asking for donations for the food bank for the harvest assembly which will take place on the 3rd October. More details will be sent out closer to the event.

We are very lucky in year 4 to have parent volunteers coming into school each week to read with the children. The children enjoy having additional time to share a book with an adult. If you are able to offer any time (even once a month), the children would really appreciate it. Please let us know via the office if this is something you would be interested.
