Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Term 4, Week 6

Hello everyone!

Year 4 have had an enjoyable STEM week. They investigated different environments for apple decay and also took part in the curly wurly experiment, where they tested how far they could stretch a curly wurly. We also had some fantastic workshops from the wonderful volunteers at Johnson Matthey, who helped the children learn how to think like a computer.

For the final week before Easter, we will be wrapping up many of the topics we’ve worked on this term. In PE, we will be playing rounders, in literacy we will be studying Viking sagas, and in PSHE, we will focus on learning how to care for the environment.

Reminders:

  • Miss Stone’s class will be swimming on Tuesday. Please ensure your child has their swimming kit and long-sleeved pyjamas.

  • Please continue to support your child with practising their times tables in preparation for the MTC. If you have any questions, please speak to your child’s class teacher.

  • As the weather is warming up, please make sure your child has a water bottle with them, as we’ve noticed some children are not drinking enough.

  • Please make sure your child reads at least four times a week and that you sign their planner. We check planners on Thursday mornings.

Thank you!

The Year 4 Team
