Four terms down, two to go! Time flies when you’re in Year 5! (I didn’t even mean for that to rhyme.) First of all, it was lovely to speak to many of you this week during our Parent Consultations. If you didn’t get round to booking or, for whatever reason, you missed your slot, please do get in touch with the office and we will be able to organise something early into Term 5.
This week, your children have been up to the following:
- In literacy, we have been finishing off our formal letters based on The Boy At The Back Of The Class. When we get back after Easter, Mr Burrows will post his class’s letters to the King. Let’s hope we get a reply!
- In maths, we’ve either been recapping previous learning or moving onto area and perimeter.
- In topic, some children learned about Ancient Mayan gods, and others did some research on what life was like during that period.
- In science, we talked about the different properties materials have (such as permeable, stretchy, transparent, etc.)
Spelling words
This week, the children have looked at more words with the dreaded ‘ough’. They are: although, bough, dough, doughnut, enough, plough, rough, though, tough and toughen.
Please note that there will be set homework on TTRS or Spelling Shed over the holidays, but children will still be expected to fill in their reading records as usual.
Pencil case equipment
The Easter holidays is a perfect time to top up pencil cases, ready for Term 5! They should contain pencils, a rubber, a pencil sharpener, a short ruler and a glue stick. Thank you in advance.
We hope you have a wonderful Easter break, and we will see your children bright and early on the morning of Monday 13th April!
