Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Term 5, Week 4

Dear parents,

Despite it only being a 4 day week, we have packed a lot in! We have spent a lot of time this week learning about Sir David Attenborough! We have found out some fascinating facts all about him, and on Friday we had an extra special tea party to celebrate him turning 100! We were incredibly lucky to be invited by Bishopswood to view the farm animals they had arranged to be on the field. We met; goats, donkeys, sheep, ducks, and more! There are some lovely photo’s on evidence me, so please go and check them out.

This week we have also continued some of our learning to write facts about dinosaurs! The children have really enjoyed writing everything they know…which is an impressive amount!

In maths we have been thinking about adding to 5, seeing if we can find 2 groups of dinosaurs which go together to make 5! We had fun doing this in the garden, and it has been lovely to see the children’s enthusiasm for learning.

On Thursday we went on a huge adventure around the school completing a Hedgehog Walk. We were aiming to walk 3km, which is roughly the distance a hedgehog walks in a night! We found some exciting characters along the way, and finished up at the hedgehog house which Mr Simic has built!

Next week we will be thinking about the Gruffalo, and we are going to begin to understand the concept of money, by earning pennies in school to spend at our ‘classroom shop’ on Friday!

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Snowden
