Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week Beginning 5th May

A big well done to the children in Year 2 for producing great work in their assessed writing and practice SATs papers. The children have been working very hard to remember some of the grammar rules we have been learning this year, such as what is a noun, adjective, adverb or a verb.

In Science we will research animal habitats and design a habitat for an animal.

In PSHE we will be learning how to cross the road safely.

In History we will be continuing our mini topic about nurses in the past and will be learning about Mary Seacole, linking this to our literacy work.

In PE we will learn dodgeball and jumping techniques.

On Thursday we celebrate VE Day! We are hoping to have a picnic on the field at lunchtime, weather permitting.

We are performing this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qAc7NLyOns

On Thursday we have a visit from ‘Winnie the Witch’ author Korky Paul.

The optional challenge is to hunt for mini beasts and make a tally chart of how many you find. Present in school for 3 team points!

Miss Jones’ class is at Forest Camp on Thursday. Please wear thin trousers and a thin, long-sleeved top.

Miss Jones’ class is swimming on Wednesday.

See you next week!
