Dear Parents ,
As school is closed for the day, due to no water, we have set some activities your children can try to do on their own.
This is always a good chance to catch up on reading homework too! Please note these activities are optional and they don’t all need to be completed.
Year 2 if you want a head start for this week:
Activity 1: What is an adverb?
Can you have a go at playing Adverb charades with a family member or friend?
E.g. Laugh quietly, walk angrily, hop crazily
Activity 2:
Here is a Subtraction problem, your friend said she had 11 stickers. When you helped her clean her desk, she only had a total of 10 stickers. How many stickers are missing?. Can you write down 5 more subtraction problems, sums and see if you can get an adult / friend to solve them.
Activity 3:
Watch– Can you write down the 7 continents? Now think of a way to remember them by writing your own rhyme/ mnemonic. (Here is an example)
Or you can do these other KS1 activities:
Phonics: Practise writing your sounds from Miss Worlock’s video
Activity 1: Watch & Listen to Night Monkey Day Monkey
Can you have a go at drawing a monkey using this to help?
Activity 2:
This week we are sharing. When it is time for you to have a little snack, can you have a go at sharing this out with yourself and your siblings/ cuddly toys? E.g. This could be raisins, grapes, breadsticks. What is the best way to share? Be prepared to tell Miss Worlock tomorrow!
Activity 3:
Go outside in the garden, can you see your shadow? If you have some chalk have a go at drawing round it at different times in the day and see how it moves. If you don’t, find a wall/ clear surface. What funny shadow creatures can you make with your body/ hands.
Extension: Make your own shadow puppet to bring into school.
