Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week commencing 7th October

Hello!

We are already in week 6 and it has been very rainy and getting cooler. Please make sure your child comes prepared with a jumper and coat to stay warm and dry. We also wanted to thank you for reading with your children and marking this in their planners. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you with this as we want children to love and enjoy reading at school and at home.

This week the children will be doing the following:

In literacy we will be reading ‘The Day the Crayon’s Quit’. The children will imagine what it’s like to be a crayon and write a letter of complaint from the crayon’s point of view. Follow the link to hear the story at home https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPkrhIEoOJg

In maths we will be ordering numbers and practicing counting in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s. Follow the link for a song to help your child with thisĀ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DS3W9WLIxlQ

In history we will have our own version of the Great Fire using the Victorian houses the children have made. The children are very excited for this lesson!

In science we will be learning about how plants stay alive in harsh conditions.

In PSHE we are discussing other people’s feelings and how to be more understanding of them.

Swimming

This week Miss Jones’ class will be swimming.

Have a great week,

The Year 2 Team
