Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week commencing 23rd September

Hello!

We are already in week 4 and the children are continuing to settle in nicely. They have been working hard to adapt to new teachers, new routines and a more challenging curriculum. Come Friday they are exhausted and excited to spend the weekend with you. We have been very happy to see that a lot of the children’s uniform is labelled clearly – this has resulted in some missing items finding their owners! If you provide an extra snack for your child to have at breaktime, please make sure it is a fruit or vegetable

This week the children will be doing the following:

In literacy we will be learning about setting descriptions in preparation for our Big Write on Thursday.

In maths we will continue looking at place value and estimating.

In history we will be learning about the types of jobs people had during the Great Fire of London and we will be adding rooves to our houses.

In art we will be experimenting with charcoal and mark making.

In science we will be learning about the life cycle of a plant.

In PE we will be developing our skills in throwing and catching.

Swimming

This week Miss Jones’ class will be swimming.

Inset Day

A reminder that this Friday (27th September) we will be having an INSET day and therefore the school will be closed for children.

Have a great week,

The Year 2 Team
