Thank you to everyone who helped to make our medieval day such a success last week. It was great fun and a fabulous learning experience.
We have a busy week ahead in Year 2 and are hoping to take part in a special online science event on Monday, learning all about life on a farm!
Following on from World Book Day, in literacy we will be looking at what makes an exciting setting in a story and writing their own, based on a picture. Maths will be consolidating the 5 times table and using it to practise multiplication and division problems.
Our geography topic this term is all about Kenya and this week we will be linking it to computers and learning how to make a simple powerpoint presentation on some facts. Children often enjoy doing this and if they want to do anything similar at home- on any favourite subject! – please email them to school and we are happy to show off their efforts. We also have a little challenge of learning the names of five African countries and the capital of Kenya which would earn a team point!
The end of the week will be a D.T. project involving designing and sewing a felt hand puppet safari animal so do let us know if you would be willing to help out. We always welcome volunteers, especially when threading needles are involved…
We would like to remind you that there are spellings in the back of the reading record books which are added to each fortnight and tested informally on alternate weeks. Please help your child to learn them, using the “look, cover, write and check ” method if possible.
