Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week beginning 25th November

We hope you have managed to enjoy your weekend despite this very rainy weather! On Wednesday we will have Christingle which the children are very excited about. On Friday it is a non-uniform day to support the Christmas Fair on Saturday so, if you can, please send your children to school with a donation.

This week we will be doing the following:

Literacy – learning about conjunctions and retelling the Dread Cat story

Maths – continuing our work on crossing the ten when subtracting using the column method. This can be quite a tricky process for children. If you would like to practice this at home, the linked video may help! https://www.google.com/search?q=crossing+the+ten+subtraction+year+2&rlz=1C1GCEB_enGB995GB995&oq=crossing+the+ten+subtraction+year+2&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIICAEQABgWGB4yCAgCEAAYFhgeMg0IAxAAGIYDGIAEGIoFMgoIBBAAGIAEGKIEMgoIBRAAGIAEGKIEMgoIBhAAGKIEGIkF0gEINTkzMmowajGoAgewAgE&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&safe=active&ssui=on#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:b5df8657,vid:zhw37rtkr0s,st:0

PE and PSHE – practicing intercepting a ball whilst avoiding getting tagged and looking at gender stereotypes

During the afternoons we will be also be rehearsing the Nativity and preparing our Christingles.

Miss Jones’ class will be swimming this week.

Thank you,

The Year 2 Team
