Sonning Common Primary School

Space to learn, grow and be inspired

Week 6

Year 3 Weekly Update

This week, the children have been reading a new book called The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry. We have been thinking a lot about deforestation and what it means for the animals that live in the rainforest. The children have shared some brilliant ideas and will soon be writing their own stories based on a rainforest animal of their choice.

In Maths, Miss Stone’s group have been continuing their work on place value, while Miss Worlock’s group have been focusing on addition and subtraction using number lines.

In Art, we have enjoyed creating beautiful pieces inspired by Romero Britto for our hall display – they are looking fantastic!

The children also had a great time taking part in the flamenco workshop, and in Science they have been learning more about plants and how they grow.

Reminders:

  • Homework and reading are due on Thursday.

  • Swimming: Miss Worlock’s class will swim on Tuesday 14th, and Miss Stone’s class on Tuesday 21st. A new timetable has been sent home.

  • Forest Camp is now finished for Year 3.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Year 3 Team.
