Hello, and welcome to another weekly Year 3 update. We’re half way through Term 3 now and properly firing on all cylinders in the classroom. Your children are making some excellent progress!
This week, we’ve been up to the following:
- In literacy, we’ve been developing and writing our own playscripts. Next week, we’ll be reading and studying some different types of poetry.
- In maths, we’re continuing to work on multiplication and division. Have a look at our Maths Made Clear playlist on YouTube for more details about how we teach these principles in school.
- In history, we learned how ancient Egyptians developed the process of mummification. Next week, we’ll be finding out about the boy Pharaoh, Tutankhamun.
- In RE, we looked at the similarities and differences between the Senet Torah (the Torah scroll that is kept in a synagogue) and the Chumash (the book version of the Torah kept at home). Next week, we’ll be learning about how some Muslims use scripture.
- In art, we made some papyrus using strips of paper and some PVA glue. Next week, we’ll be transferring the designs we’ve been working on onto our (now dried) papyrus!
PE and swimming
As well as PE for everyone on Monday, it is the turn of Miss Lunnon’s class to go swimming this Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Burrows’s class should come to school on Tuesday in PE kit.
Homework
Now that we are completely settled into the Year 3 routine, we will be making a push on insisting that children complete their homework every week. This is as follows:
- 4 reads, written and signed in planners
- 10 minutes of Times Table Rockstars
- 5 games of Spelling Shed (or a session of Nessy at home if this has been discussed)
We obviously know, however, that homework doesn’t happen without you facilitating it. We kindly ask that you continue to help and encourage your children to complete their quota each week. If we can help in any way, please do let us know.
We hope you have a lovely weekend, and we will see your children bright and early on Monday morning.
