Hello, and welcome to another weekly Year 3 update. It’s amazing to us to think that we’ve just finished the last week of November! Where did that month go? Still, we’re not complaining – December is one of the loveliest times of the year to be in a primary school!
This week, your children have been up to the following:
- In literacy, we have been spending more time with Coming Home, the poem by Michael Morpurgo. Next week, we’ll be making (and then writing instructions for) vegan bird feeders.
- In maths, we’re continuing to work on our exchanges (or, borrowing) in addition and subtraction. See what you children can demonstrate!
- In topic, we studied the hills and mountains of the UK. Next week, we’ll be focusing on the UK’s capital city, London, and learning how it has grown and changed over the past two thousand years.
- In DT, we have been finishing off our Christmas stockings. Come to the Christmas Fair on Saturday to see them!
- In RE, we learned about how Muslims use the Five Pillars of Islam to help them to make moral decisions.
Water bottles
We are noticing more and more children forgetting to bring their water bottles into school. Keeping hydrated is really important, and we ask that you help your child to remember to bring it in every day. Thank you.
Christmas song
You should have received an email from the office about Year 3’s song for the Carol Concert on the evening of Thursday 19th December. Please get in touch if you didn’t receive it.
PE and swimming
As well as PE for everyone this Monday, it is Miss Lunnon’s class’s turn to go swimming on Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Burrows’s class should come to school in PE kit on that day.
Supporting the school on social media
As you may or may not have realised, the school has recently started making a real push with marketing itself on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter/X by making them places to help you keep up with all the fun and exciting things the school is up to. In order to spread the word, we would really appreciate it if you could, a) follow us on these platforms if you don’t already, and b) like and share our posts.
We hope you have a lovely weekend, and we hope to see you either on Tuesday or Thursday evening for your parent consultation.
