Term 6 Week 4 update

Hello, and welcome to another Year 3 update. We’re very excited to see you many of you at the SCPS Summer Fair this Saturday afternoon. We’ve asked your children to consider helping us on the Year 3 stall for a little while. We know there is lots to more fun things to do and we don’t want to stop that, but if you could encourage them to help on the stall for just 10 minutes or so, we’d really appreciate it.

This week, your children have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, we have been learning about biographies and autobiographies. Next week, we will start working on writing our own autobiographies.
  • In maths, we have either been working on telling the time or pictograms and bar charts.
  • In topic, we looked at how construction of the railways exploded after the Rainhill Trial, and how the country benefitted from that. Next week, we’ll be looking at the London Underground.
  • In computing, we filmed our Sports Day Newsround report! Next week, we’ll be in the editing suite.
  • In science, we designed our own allotments.

PE and swimming

As well as PE for everyone on Monday, it is Miss Green’s class’s turn to go swimming this Thursday. Mr. Burrows’s class should come to school in PE kit on that day.

Autobiography homework

Hopefully you received an email on Thursday explaining that Spelling Shed homework has been replaced this week with an important task! Your children should do some research to help with writing an autobiography later in the week. Please check your emails (and the sheet your child should have brought home on Friday) for more details.

We hope you have a lovely weekend, and we’ll see your children bright and early on Monday morning.
