Term 5 Week 4 update

Hello, and thank you for having a look at this week’s Year 3 update. It’s been nice to have a glimpse of summer over the past few days, with the children even being able to spend a lunchtime on the field! We all feel excited and nervous about the prospect of this academic year come to close, mainly because it seems to have gone so quickly!

This week, your children have been up to the following:

  • In literacy, as well as continuing to read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, we have been assessing reading comprehension skills.
  • In maths, we have either been looking at mass and capacity or looking at fractions of amounts. In particular, Mr. Burrows’s class has been working on fractions problems such as this: https://youtu.be/AyTG4683PMY?t=451&si=MkXjrrrFi2nGNwQ6
  • In topic (geography this term), we were learning about time zones.
  • In science, we were investigating the strength of magnets.
  • In RE, we compared how Jewish and Christian scripture are different.

PE and Swimming

As well as PE on Monday, it will be the turn of Miss Green’s class to go swimming this Thursday. Mr. Burrows’s class should come to school in PE kit.

Warmer weather

As we (hopefully) experience warmer weather over the next few weeks, please help to make sure that your children are staying safe in the sunshine. That means the following:

  • Coming into school wearing sun cream.
  • Bringing in a hat to wear.
  • Bringing in a water bottle.

Enjoy the weekend sunshine and we will see your children bright and early on Monday morning.
