Hello everyone,
Year 3 had a lovely first week back at school. We started our new literacy topic based on The Story of Tutankhamun by Patricia Cleveland-Peck. The children created fact files about Tutankhamun’s life and then edited their work to make it even better.
In maths, Miss Green’s group have been learning about multiples of 10. Miss Stone’s group have started their multiplication and division unit, focusing on arrays and the 2 and 5 times tables.
In topic lessons, we began our Ancient Egypt unit. This week, the children learned where Egypt is on the map, and our classrooms were transformed into a mini museum filled with artefacts.
Looking ahead to this week, we will be celebrating Egyptian Day on Thursday. Just a reminder that children are welcome to wear an Egyptian costume. Please can all costumes and accessories be named.
In literacy, we will be taking part in a drama activity, re-enacting the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. The children will begin with “role on the wall” activities to help them get into character.
In art, we will be experimenting with spices and natural materials to make paint, exploring the colours and effects that can be created. In PSHE, we will be learning about what to do in an emergency, including how to call 999.
